Ruiz-Larrea delivers the healthy and sustainable "headquarters" of the pharmaceutical company Sanofi in Barcelona
The multinational moves to the Meridiana Tower to house its Global Innovation Center and prevent the emission into the atmosphere of up to 91 tons of CO2 each year

Ruiz-Larrea Arquitectura has delivered the healthy and sustainable 'headquarters' project of the pharmaceutical multinational Sanofi in the Torre Meridiana in Barcelona, to which the company has moved with a double objective: to house the Global Innovation Center that pilots its digitization through worldwide and prevent the emission of up to 91 metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
Ruiz-Larrea interviene como leader designer in an area of more than 7,000 square meters spread over 5 floors of this building, which will house more than 750 workers and collaborators of 40 nationalities. The result is a healthy and dynamic space, which follows the criteria of the WELL well-being certificate and which incorporates the comfort guidelines reserved until now for the home at work.

DINAMIC AND CREATIVE OFFICE
Sanofi's new offices articulate dynamic work areas according to functional intensity: active, moderate or silent/concentration. All the areas facilitate remote connections, creativity and collaborative tasks thanks to a hundred meeting spaces that allow a gradual level of privacy (individual, group or collective).
The chromatic proposal is based on the Mediterranean colors of the Catalan coast (blues, reds, greens) to differentiate spaces and guide circulation. At the same time, the tones bring warmth and personality to the venue. Biophilia, the use of wood and murals recreate the natural, adding serenity and elegance. In the construction phase, volatile or harmful components have been removed.
El recién estrenado mobiliario, totalmente ergonómico, combina lo formal con soluciones de descanso y reflexión, como los asientos colgantes que proporcionan unas vistas privilegiadas sobre el skyline de Barcelona.
Diseño y tecnología se ponen al servicio del confort y el medioambiente. La nueva distribución optimiza la luz natural para reducir la demanda energética. La iluminación LED se regula de forma que favorezca la concentración. Recuperadores de calor, climatizadores y sistemas de agua caliente sanitaria brindan máxima eficiencia con el menor gasto energético. Gracias a ello y a la minimización del uso del papel, Sanofi calcula que reducirá su huella de carbono en 91 toneladas métricas de CO2 anuales.
La sede integra, por último, servicios para los trabajadores como consulta médica, fisioterapia, nutrición, clases presenciales, acuerdos con centros deportivos y opciones para la correcta hidratación y una alimentación saludable.
