Beyond historicist, aesthetic or simply language considerations, the intervention in the palace of the Marquis of Gastañaga is based on the understanding of architecture as a living project on which we must act using the pre-existing building as one more material in the construction of the idea of project and the construction of the city.
This is our approach. History has always worked with sediments. Making the best of each one. We clean the banal ornament of the palace, we remove the disproportionate and antifunctional tame cover of the building and we leave the most powerful and rigorous fenestration of the building devoid of everything superficial and pastiche to revalue its plastic power in walls, as well as the abstract compositional order of its hollows.
